Privacy and calculator data

Last updated July 14, 2026

Calculator inputs run in your browser. CountStruction does not require an account or submit those measurements to an application database just to calculate a result.

Saved inputs

“Save inputs” stores the current calculator values in this browser's local storage for that calculator. The data stays on that browser profile unless browser software, an extension, device management, or another person with device access reads it. Clearing site data removes the saved copy.

Shared estimates

“Share estimate” places an encoded copy of visible input values in the URL fragment after the # symbol. A fragment is normally not sent to the website server in an HTTP request, but anyone or any app receiving the complete link can read those values. Do not put names, addresses, account numbers, or other sensitive information in fields you plan to share.

Project workspace

The room planner saves room names, dimensions, ceiling heights, and opening counts in this browser's local storage. “Add to project” saves material names, estimated quantities, notes, and retailer destinations there too. Prefilled room links keep room identity in the URL fragment rather than the HTTP request. Avoid personal or customer names in room labels. Removing rooms or lines, clearing the project, or clearing site data removes the applicable local copy.

Offline app storage

In production, CountStruction can install a service worker so the app shell, public pages you visit, and versioned site files remain useful during a weak or missing connection. Cached calculator pages contain only the public response and example defaults; values you type and recalculated results are not written into that page cache. Navigations containing a query string are not stored. The service worker handles only same-origin requests and never caches external retailer, affiliate, analytics, or advertising requests. Clearing browser site data removes these offline copies.

Privacy choices

A small essential local-storage record remembers whether you allowed optional analytics or advertising on this browser. Optional provider scripts are not requested until the deployment explicitly enables them and you grant the matching choice. You can review or withdraw those choices at any time on the privacy choices page. Withdrawing a choice prevents future optional events. Providers may retain data already collected under their own retention terms.

Retailer and external links

Retailer, manufacturer, code, government, contact-form, and other source links open external websites governed by their own privacy practices. If affiliate tracking is enabled, the shopping list displays a nearby disclosure and the provider or retailer may receive standard click and referral information. Calculator measurements are not added to retailer-link parameters by this site.

Hosting, analytics, and ads

A production hosting provider may process normal request data such as IP address, user agent, requested page, time, and security logs. The site's report-only Content Security Policy may also send a sanitized violation record to the same hosting logs. That record is limited to directive names, line/column numbers, and URL origins and paths; query strings, fragments, cookies, headers, and form or calculator values are not retained by the reporting endpoint.

No analytics provider is enabled in this deployment. Local calculator-event code remains inactive and no analytics provider script is requested.

No ad-network script or ad unit is enabled in this deployment. Retailer links may still be affiliate links when a nearby disclosure says so.
